Coastal Escapes

1st August 2020

Located just moments away from the Canford Cliffs, this stylish new pub and hotel marries traditional British charm with coastal chic style. As well as a welcoming pub with al fresco dining and a Burger Shack, there are 11 stylish bedrooms offering breathtaking views of the stunning Dorset coast with its beautiful Blue Flag beaches.

With families and four-legged friends welcome, The Canford is the perfect pitstop for a great meal, al fresco drink or seaside getaway.

At the heart of the property is the pub with its bright and airy conservatory serving the best in British seasonal produce, most sourced locally. Reflecting its coastal location, there’s a host of fish and seafood dishes such as Shell-Baked Scallops with artichoke purée, chorizo and preserved lemon; Local Gin-Cured Trout, Dorset crab and prawn mayonnaise; or Arctic Char with artichoke purée, honey salsify and wild mushrooms.

Vibrant vegan options also feature including Turmeric Cauliflower and Smoked Chickpea Salad; Cauliflower Kimchi Risotto with butternut squash fritters, fried sage and a sharing Plant Board laden with the likes of agave roasted squash, aubergine, kimchi, black rice crackers and toast, hummus, mixed olives and balsamic vinegar. Carnivores are not neglected with choices such as Pressed Lamb with goat’s cheese dauphinoise; and a 28-day aged West Country Ribeye with triple cooked chips and bearnaise sauce.

Come the warmer months, head for The Canford’s expansive garden and the al fresco Burger Shack offering a variety of juicy patties from the best British beef through to chicken and veggie burgers, all cooked to perfection and served in a freshly baked bun.

As one would expect from an English pub, The Canford does a great Sunday roast, traditional and vegan, with the likes of  21-day aged Beef Sirloin, Seasonal Vegetable Bake with vegan gravy and Salt Baked Pork Belly with apple sauce, served with all the trimmings including roasties, honey parsnips, carrot swede mash, Yorkshire puddings and gravy.

No Young’s pub would be complete without a well-stocked bar at its centre, and The Canford is no exception. Along with premium gins and Young’s cask ales, the drinks menu boasts a carefully crafted wine menu, from crisp whites through to rich and spicy reds and pale and delicate rosés.

Boasting beach-chic interiors, each of the 11 individually designed boutique bedrooms overlook the stunning grounds and offer an abundance of light. With soft natural furnishings and calming colours of sky blue and sea turquoise, rooms come equipped with modern luxuries including Hypnos beds, flat screen TVs, a work desk, Nespresso machine and salon-quality hair dryers. Set up for families, and pets upon request, book a room for the perfect seaside escape.

Positioned a stone’s throw away from the Blue Flag beaches of Canford Cliffs and Branksome Chine, The Canford offers guests picturesque coastal strolls and is just a ten-minute drive from the seaside towns of Bournemouth and Poole.

Visitors to this enchanting hotel can enjoy lazy afternoons in the sprawling green grounds or take a leisurely stroll along the sand banks taking in the beautiful views of the Canford Cliffs. Offering a number of fantastic outdoor activities, head out for an afternoon of nature trails at Compton Acres or take an exciting boat trip across to Brownsea Island.
