Everything you need to know about the Guinness Six Nations 2020

With the Guinness Six Nations 2020 only a few months away, the amount of information we all need to know can get a little daunting.  So we thought we’d help you out and round up everything you need to know about this year’s biggest rugby tournament.

1. The first match is on 1st February at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

 

2. The final game is on 14th March at Stade de France in Paris.

 

3. There will be two matches at Twickenham Rugby Stadium, and they are on Sunday 23rd February and Saturday 7th March.

4. England currently hold the title of having won the championship the most times, closely followed by Wales.

 

5. The Six Nations championship is played every year in the months of February and March.

 

6. Each team plays all other teams once, with home and away fixtures alternating each year.

8. Teams are awarded four points for a win and two for a draw.  A bonus point system was introduced in 2016 – teams receive an extra point if they score +4 tries, or if they lose by fewer than 7 points.

9. The rugby games are free for all to watch as they are being shown on BBC and ITV.

10. The Ireland rugby team are this years defending champions, having won the Six Nations championship in 2019.

 

11. There are 14 referees appointed to the 15 Six Nations fixtures, with Australia’s Nic Berry being the only official to take charge of more than one game.
